Appreciating Buckhorn Mountain Views

10.11.06
The view from the top of Buckhorn mountain was clearly breathtaking. Mount Rainier is visible in the distance. It is about 82 miles away (I have elementary spherical distance calculating - so give or take 1000 miles). We couldn't get photos that showed Mount St Helens (which is nice and flat on top) or another mountain (that I cannot remember) because of the angle of the sun. But if we did pull it off , you would see them to the right of Mount Rainier.

On the far right side of this photo is a beautiful white blurb (you might need to click on the picture to see it). That blurb is Mount Baker, WA (78 miles away). In the distance to the left is the great country of Canada. Canadians are such nice people.

This photo shows Seattle from the top of the mountain. The city is actually the white spot below the next mountain range. If you click on this picture it might be easier to make out the tall buildings.

Paul says that without snow on the peaks around us the views were not as dramatic. It is a bit odd to think of October as the dry, melted season. Chalk that up to me being born in the midwest.
